Breastfeeding FAQs
Will you be able to help if I'm not producing enough milk?
In my work, I have supported countless women who are concerned about their milk supply.
I've provided encouragement, support, and bespoke strategies that equip them to get back on track with breastfeeding.
I breastfed so easily last time, why am I having problems?
No two children are alike. Feeding your new baby is a unique experience.
Don't worry, whatever is happening to cause you to lose confidence, we can work together to pinpoint and address these issues to enabling you to move forward.
If breastfeeding is natural, why am I struggling?
Breastfeeding is completely natural, but it doesn't mean there won't be hurdles - much in the same way that walking is natural for a toddler, but with some bumps and falls along the way! However, with tailored support, unique to your situation, your breastfeeding journey can progress.
I'm worried I may have lots of breastfeeding problems?
Within your initial consultation, there will be plenty of time to work through all the strategies you need to move forward with breastfeeding successfully. Don't worry if we go 'over time' - I'm here to help you.
Can you diagnose and help with a tongue-tie?
If it is suspected that your baby has a tongue-tie that is impacting breastfeeding, I can provide information regarding how to seek out an NHS or private tongue-tie practitioner.
In many cases, strategies to improve feeding effectiveness and comfort, as well as protection of supply is usually the most important and vital aspect that will help to resolve your situation.
Check for tongue-tie information here.
For some babies the tongue-tie procedure has been very effective and improved the breastfeeding experience while others have taken time to improve after the procedure.
Unfortunately, for some, the procedure has not made a marked difference. Hence it is essential that skilled breastfeeding support and assessment is an integral part of any tongue-tie treatment.
Consultations FAQs
Are consultations in person or online?
I offer both.
The majority of my consultations are online. This can be booked and paid for in advance of the session via this website.
I also offer in-home consultations to those who live in Greater Manchester. Please call me on 07716 376 478, or if I'm unavaliable, leave a message.
Do you offer free consultations?
No, but I am the founder of the charity, The Breastfeeding Companion which covers over 85 topics. It's a completely free resource and is used by many NHS Trusts across the UK.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
If you wish to cancel or re-book your consultation please contact at least 24 hours in advance and I can refund in full, or reschedule. Cancellations of less than 24 hours will not be refunded.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
I try to ensure that that there are a number of online slots most days of the week (except for holidays) to give flexibility. Home visit consultations are arranged on a more bespoke basis.
